150 Hour Uptime + Double XP!

Last week’s crash bug fixing bonanza has resulted in a near-record uptime of 150 hours and still going. To celebrate the US Memorial Day and our newfound stability, I’m happy to announce a Double XP day starting now and ending tonight at midnight, EST.

New Zone: The Tower of Kenjin

Somewhere in the southern Calimshan desert a mystery unfolds. Rumors spread like wildfires about an enormous ebon crystal tower (which not a soul can remember ever seeing, or hearing about for that matter) rising high into the skies, yet casting no shadow. Foreigners have been seen exploring the desert, all seeking to discover the mystery of The Tower of Kenjin.

Crash bugs fixed!

Several crash bugs have been fixed. These bugs are the primary reason why the MUD has been crashing lately, so expect some improved stability as a result of these fixes.

Area Fixes

Today’s update addresses some open area issues:
  •  Fortress of the Dragon Cult: Dracolich downgraded, items upgraded.
  •  &cLa fine &ccmithril &cLshield embedded with &crspikes&N’s proc has been fixed, AC bumped.
  •  That ugly bag of tentacles has been upgraded, the quest clarified
  •  Darktree: knight’s chess piece has been fixed, ancient brownie will now return the correct bracelet.
  •  Derro Pit: mage earring’s AC fixed.
  •  Entrance to Fire Giant Lair now permanently fixed, along with more minor fixes.

New Zone: The Elemental Plane of Water

Nine New Zones Added

Nine new zones from the former Homeland MUD have been converted and added to the mud. Look for them in the credits, and here’s a taste of what’s in store:

  • King Horgar Steelshadow the Fourth has closed the city of Gracklstugh to outsiders, but has finally, after being pressured by merchant guilds for the better part of a year, agreed to allow passage around the city walls to the  wild tunnels of the Underdark that lie due west of the city gates. With the trade routes open, the fiendish minotaurs that roam the Labyrinth once again have a steady supply of food.
  • Denizens of the Underdark have reported many sightings of extra-planar beings, native to the Plane of Fire deep underground.
  • Rumors spread throughout the Northdark about a temple dedicated to the Elder Eye, and the riches contained within, unfortunately for adventurers, those rumors usually finish with ‘… and they were never heard from again.’, but there is always an exception, isn’t there?
  • Patrolmen from Phlan have reported increased activity ranging from ogres to dragons, all hailing from the mountains to the north.
  • Strange travelers have been seen in the astral plane, whether they mean good or bad tidings for the casual travelers remains to be seen.

Thanksgiving Weekend Multiplay

In addition to today’s double XP rewards we will also be extending the festivities with a multiplay weekend. See you there!

Multiplay begins Friday at 6pm EST and ends the following Sunday at 10pm EST.

Autocomplete and bugfixes

The following items have been released to the MUD:

Autocomplete:

  • The MUD will now autocomplete player names in the same room as you. For example, you can now type rescue pidi and it will match on Pidibeple if he’s in the same room as you.

Powers:

  • Power spells will now maintain the target they were cast on up until the spell is complete. For example, you won’t lose spells when being rescued or when you cast on 2.mob and then 1. leaves the room. 
  • Creeping doom now displays a message every wave.
  • Rot now displays a message on every wave.
  • Rot damage increased significantly.
  • Vitality displays a success message to the caster.
  • Area spells will now include blind mobs in the radius.

General:

  • Liches no longer show show up on infravision.
  • Orcs can wear Ceremonial Rat-Cult Robes again
  • Half-Orc battlechanters can now practice in Baldur’s Gate.
